SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Kendale Lakes Elementary is an active participant of Special Olympics, a year-round program in sports training and competition for individuals eight years old of age and older, with mental handicaps. Training and competition are provided for a variety of fall, winter, and summer sports.

MISSION

Our mission at Kendale Lakes is to provide our young athletes with sports experiences for the love of competing, for the thrill of learning new experiences, for the mere pleasure and sense of success, and for the opportunity to provide teamwork skills. It is our belief that these valuable experiences in sports training and competition will be beneficial to our athletes on their road to becoming healthy, active, and contributing members of society.

SPORTS

The twenty four sports officially offered through Special Olympics are as follows:

 Alpine Skiing,  Football (Soccer),  Aquatics,  Golf,  Athletics (Track & Field),  Gymnastics, Badminton,  Shuffleboard, Basketball, Powerlifting, Bocce,  Roller Skating,  Bowling, Sailing, Cycling, Softball, Equestrian, Speed Skating, Figure Skating, Table Tennis, Floor Hockey, Horseshoe Pitching, Tennis & Volleyball

PARTICIPATION

To be eligible to participate in Special Olympics, you must be at least eight years old of age an identified as having a mental handicap. Athletes who have physical, emotional, or learning disabilities do not have a mental handicap and are not eligible to participate in Special Olympics.

Eligible athletes desiring to register as Special Olympics athletes must complete and submit the following paperwork:

 Application For Participation (Medical Form)
 Official Special Olympics Release Form
 Volunteer Registration Form (For Parents)
